For ages 8 to 12, and grown-ups who like to help.
About the book
Sherlock Holmes cannot solve them all by himself. He needs a sharp-eyed young detective to join the Baker Street Irregulars.
Read the story, meet the three suspects, search the word grid, crack Dr Watson's maths clue and name the culprit. Each case takes about 15 to 20 minutes, which makes it perfect as an advent activity.
The puzzles get harder as you go, so young detectives grow with the book. Younger children can share the stories with a grown-up, and older ones can work alone.
Inside you’ll find
- 25 gentle Christmas mysteries, plus a practice case with every answer filled in
- Word searches that grow from 10 x 10 to 13 x 13
- Maths clues for Years 3 to 5: times tables, halves and quarters, telling the time, charts and maps
- An Advent Calendar Code: every answer gives a letter towards a secret message
- Sudoku promotion tests, from Constable to Chief Inspector
- Bonus puzzles: a code, a maze, spot-the-difference, fingerprints and a logic puzzle
- Pictures to colour, a map of Holmes's London, a certificate and a detective badge
A Christmas gift and stocking filler for curious children, and screen-free fun all through December.
